Due to the ideal geographical location of Suriname, the Special Economic Zone of the Port of Nickerie will be extremely suitable for agro-processing, trade, logistics, manufacturing, as well as Shore Base facilties.

It will serve as a market-access hub for the region, create a hub for the world’s top companies, and accelerate the growth of Suriname’s local private sector.

This development enables manufacturers and service providers to obtain the necessary natural resources and raw materials locally, which promotes their further expansion within Suriname, CARICOM, and the Latin American region, creating major incentive for foreign direct investment (FDI) in Suriname.

By creating the right base infrastructure, it offers local and international companies a jump-start into servicing Suriname’s new offshore industry through specialized legislation, which allows the Government of Suriname to stimulate immediate job creation, while taking its time to properly develop the rest of Suriname with great flexibility for years to come.
